I recently began a new collection of monochromatic paintings to colourize in Photoshop or Procreate. As I continue on a slow simplification path I keep trying to find ways to make work with fewer materials.
I haven’t been to the art supplies shop in a while.
This is both encouraging and scary. It scares me because I know I have so many supplies that I foolishly bought in a case of “this supply will improve my art” I can’t even think about the money spent on unused materials.
On the other hand, I’m slowly but surely trying to use everything I have. Surprises come often!
One of those surprises is feeling my resistance slowly ebb regarding the use of traditional materials and technology together.
I used to ask myself: what if I have an exhibition? How would I show my work if it’s digital? What value would it have? How would people buy my original work? (Oh the innocence and the worry!).


I never thought of the other problems that I would face, such as not knowing what to do with all the actua…
