I see myself in ten years like those people who resisted computers in the 80s
My response to AI was of horror. I read more and more catastrophic scenarios: self-driving cars, no more doctors, loss of employment, copyright infringement.
I saw books published entirely by AI and rushed to Amazon’s KDP with the promise of fortune.
Then, I read about deep fakes and voice impersonation. All this added to what we already navigate through: disinformation, misinformation, clickbait, conspiracies, etc.
I was terrorized.
“We will become a useless, dumb, obsolete species” I cried to my husband. “We will be lazy, we will roam around the world talking to chatbots”.
NO! I won’t use it.
But…
Once I dreaded becoming a middle-aged woman who only listened to the music of her youth and never evolved. I saw myself like that sixty year-old ordering a Poutine singing a Stevie Wonder song like it was the first time.
